World Mental Health day/Inclusion of Disabled due to Schizophrenia

INCLUSION is the new slogan of disabled due to Mental illness in India.

The world remembers 10th Oct. as World Mental health day. In India in spite of Supreme court of India’s directive after the death of 25 odd Chained disabled due to mental illness persons at Erwady vide their order in case no W.P.(C). 334 of 2001 on 5th February 2002 to include Disabled due to mental illness in THE NATIONAL TRUST ACT 1999 as it is the only Act which caters for the following:-

The objects of the National Trust shall be - (chapter III)

(a) to enable and empower persons with disability to live as independently and as fully as possible within and as close to the community to which they belong;(

b) to strengthen facilities to provide support to persons with disability to live within their own families;

(c) to extend support to registered organisations to provide need based services during period of crisis in the family of persons with disability;

(d) to deal with problems of persons with disability who do not have family support;

(e) to promote measures for the care and protection of persons with disability in the event of death of their parents or guardians;

(f) to evolve procedure for the appointment of guardians and trustees for persons with disability requiring such protection;

(g) to facilitate the realisation of equal opportunities, protection of rights and full participation of persons with disability; and

(h) to do any other act which is incidental to the aforesaid objects. None of the state governments have established institutions to cater exclusively to mentally ill like NIMHANS as per supreme court order.

Nor the central government has bothered to include DISABLED DUE TO MENTAL ILLNESS (NOT Mentally ill who come to hospitals for treatment) who don’t recover after admission and treatment even in hospitals like NIMHANS. THE national trust is discriminatory in the sense that it does NOT include ALL THE DISABLED PERSONS AS PER PWDEA ACT 1995 WHO SATISFY THE ABOVE CRITERIA.

So disabled due to mental illness are abandoned in streets or abandoned in CHENNAI at the Banyan.

I request all who believe in the above objectives of the trust, please visit the following web page of the National Trust and vote for inclusion of Mental illness in the trust. The vote is taken at the bottom left hand of the Home page.

All those who are interested in families of Mentally ill can view the following podcast A very rare case of 7 year old schizophrenic. Watch the Oprah show in the this video.

I had schizophrenia too 16 years ago when I was in California, and I was confined in Las Encinas Hospital, CA. I posted a message to Oprah @

Schizophrenia is curable, and I have to give some credit to India for it. My website gives more information about it.

Hi Rodney,
Your view of CURE and Indian view of CURE are very different.You fight against american psychiatry. In India we have only 3000 Psychiatrists,1200 psychiatric nurses,800 psychologists WHO WORK ONLY IN uRBAN CCENTRES. So you see what you fight for is actually in India is a fact.That is why temples,mazhars serve as places where the ABONDONED MENTALLYILL GET THEIR FOOD. But abondoned mentallyill woman are used by beggars to rape.But donot call it as FREEDOM AND RIGHT of mentallyill

Hi Captain Johann.

When I said that India was helpful to me, I was referring to one of your teachers the Buddha. I understand that most Indians today are Hindus, with some Muslims, and very little moderate Buddhists. And as I explained in my book, that may be the problem.

There are too many conservatives or Far Right wingers in India right now and it needs to move toward the center or the middle to heal itself. The U.S. on the other hand today is at the Far Left and it is too secular. They believe that people are like animals so the ”medicine” that they give to schizophrenics there are neuroleptics or molecular derivatives of insecticides.

Mentally ill people in the U.S. are also tortured, raped and killed. The faces of missing children there are all over milk cartons. They are also raped, tortured and killed. Some American actors like Tom Cruise fight against the abuses of American psychiatrists.

India is basically the same because the Far Right (aversion) also suffers just as the Far Left (desire). That’s why Buddha said that the solution is the Middle Way or the Center. It is just like the schizophrenia of Jani. She sees a cat (superego or aversion) and she sees a rat (id or desire) and both are bad. That is why the Chinese dragon or the Fu dog (mediating ego) at the center is necessary to relieve suffering. This is the Feng Shui interpretation of her condition as stated in my website. Feng Shui tells the story of the rat who wants to be Number 1, and how the rat fooled and kicked the cat who ended up as number 13. The rat is America. The cat is India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, etc.

It is unfortunate that India rejected the Buddha and kicked out Buddhism from India just like the Afghans who are now Muslims. That is why both India and Afghanistan are now suffering. In China, Japan and South East Asia though, they listened to the teachings of Buddha and prospered.

P.S. Oh, and I forgot to mention Korea. They also learned much from Buddha.
